Each spring, Washington University’s Emergency Support Team (short: EST, a volunteer BLS) enrolls approximately 15 students in an EMT-Basic course. I served as one of the adjunct instructors to this course. My primary objective was to train students for the EMT psychomotor exam. Practical skills taught include airway management, c-spine stabilization, oxygen administration, bleeding control, splinting, extrication, etc. We also served as standardized patients for various medical and trauma cases. Students were evaluated per NREMT criteria.
